A locally owned franchise of Sylvan Learning Center will open in Round Rock this August.

About the business

Sylvan Learning Centers provide tutoring and academic support across subjects including math, reading, writing, science, languages as well as test preparation and other academic services.

About the owners

The franchise is owned by Allan and Amy Kelley. With backgrounds in wellness-focused business and social work, respectively, Allan Kelley said the pair wanted their next venture to give back to the community. Amy Kelley will manage the day-to-day operations and be the face most clients see in the center, he said.

In their own words

Allan Kelley said the business represents an investment in local education, to support both homeschooling families and students in the public school system. He also said the center will only employ certified teachers to provide the best academic support to families.

"We wanted to be with a brand that had the technology and reputation to really deliver real results," Kelley said. "The platform is is not designed to be the 'better alternative.' We want to work with schools and educators."
